Greetings from Austin, Texas. This year is off to a great start. The State Board of Education met in January and approved numerous amendments to the administrative rules for the state textbook review and adoption process. Concurrently, the Texas Education Agency has issued an Request for Qualifications for the Commissioner's List of Electronic Textbooks and Technological Equipment. These are products that will be reviewed by an expert panel, approved by the Commissioner of Education, and be available for school districts to select for the 2010-2011 school year. The RFQ calls for web-based products only.
The deadline for submission of new products for the commissioner's list is March 2, 2010. The schedule for the submission, review and approval is rapid to say the least. More information on this process is available on the website of the Texas Education Agency. You can learn more about it by using the following link.

For the next few weeks, I will be putting my "Features" section on hold. I invite you, however, to take a look at the collection of interviews and profiles in the "Links/Archives"
section of this site. I have been fortunate to meet and interview the many individuals I have featured in this section. I will continue this section when I select my next subject.
