August 27, 2010, Austin, Texas. The school buses are running! Most schools have opened for the new school year and there is much activity at the state level in preparation for the November 2010 adoption of new English and Spanish language arts instructional materials. New instructional materials for prekindergarten students and English language learners are also in line for adoption by the State Board of Education.

In addition to the state adoption scheduled for November 2010, the State Board of Education issued a call for supplemental science instructional materials for Grades 5-8 and high school. A meeting to discuss the activities related to this call is scheduled for September 2, 2010, in Austin.
